Post-Doc salary thresholds to remain unchanged for 2025

Per Kate Davis, Director of OAP:  A Nov. 15 UNM Human Resources Department email announced that a federal judge in Texas struck down the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime rule set to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.  This decision appears to eliminate the increase to salary thresholds for overtime exemptions that UNM has been preparing to implement for 2025. As such, the Office for Academic Personnel will not move forward with implementing the new salary threshold or proposed exemption changes. 

These changes would have impacted staff in grades 11 and 12, including temporary part-time faculty (TPT) who hold staff positions in these salary grades, but as of now, Exempt staff in grades 11 and 12 may continue holding TPT faculty positions.

While awaiting further guidance on this development from UNM Human Resources, please continue to use the current stated rates for postdoctoral fellows who have current active contracts and when hiring postdoctoral fellows.  For immediate questions or concerns, please email oaplr@unm.edu.
